Methyl-Guard® is a blend of important nutrients and cofactors that are necessary for homocysteine recycling and metabolism.
Although homocysteine is a common amino acid that can play a role in building protein necessary for our health, high levels may contribute to the development of cardiovascular conditions as well as weak bones. To keep levels within a healthy range, our bodies need the necessary nutrients to properly metabolize homocysteine.
Methyl-Guard® includes folic acid, vitamin B12, and betaine in order to promote the recycling of homocysteine into the amino acid methionine. Vitamin B6 helps break homocysteine down into the beneficial amino acids cysteine and taurine.
Individuals with certain conditions affecting enzyme action may be prone to high homocysteine levels. For those with poor ability to convert folic acid, the active form of folic acid in Methyl-Guard® could provide necessary nutrition for metabolizing homocysteine.
Healthy homocysteine levels may also play a role in bone, female reproductive, cognitive, and neurological health.

An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
