Electrolytes
Electrolytes (also called mineral salts) have an important role in sport & exercise, but can also be used in everyday life. They literally help your muscle fibers to contract and function properly. As your duration of exercise increases, so does your need to replace electrolytes lost during the natural sweating process and avoid dehydration.
Electrolytes are salts which are dissolved in and around the cells in our body. They carry charges (needed for muscle movement) and help balance fluid levels inside and outside of cells. Electrolytes are lost in sweat so they need to be replenished to keep you at your peak performance. The majority of electrolytes in sweat include sodium, but also calcium, potassium, and magnesium, so having a supplement that includes these mineral salts is important. Having electrolytes included in a sports drink not only helps to keep you hydrated but to help keep your muscles balanced & working properly during exercise.
