Lactose Intolerant

Lactose intolerance affects as many as 50 million people in the United States.  Intolerance to dairy is often due to the inability to digest milk sugar known as lactose, however, can also be related to the difficult-to-digest proteins and fats inherent in dairy products.

In order for your body to digest and process lactose, an enzyme (Lactase) is needed. Without this enzyme, your bowel retains water, leading to unpleasant symptoms such as gas, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and bloating.
